Temporary Assistance Program (TAP)
The Temporary Assistance Program (TAP) helps Prince William Water customers in need of emergency financial assistance with their water bills. TAP funds are directed to two local Prince William County charitable organizations to distribute to customers needing emergency assistance with paying their Prince William Water bills; SERVE, a unit of Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS), and Action in Community through Service (ACTS) of Prince William.
How can I donate to TAP?
Both Prince William Water customers and non-customers may donate to TAP:
- One-time donation: Customers and non-customers may make a one-time TAP donation by filling out the One-Time TAP Donation Form. Customers may add the one-time donation to their monthly bill by providing their account number on the form, while non-customers will need to send a check to Prince William Water.
- Recurring monthly donation: Prince William Water customers may make recurring monthly donations. You may "round up" your monthly bill to the nearest dollar or add a recurring donation of $5, $10, $15, or $20 to your monthly bill. An account number is required for recurring monthly donations. Please fill out the Recurring TAP Donation Form to make a recurring donation.
You may also donate by contacting our Customer Service Department by calling (703) 335-7950 or emailing CustomerService@pwwater.org. For individuals donating to TAP from retirement accounts, please contact Customer Service to obtain Prince William Water’s Federal Tax identification Number.
Contributions in any amount are appreciated and will provide critical support to TAP. Prince William Water absorbs all administrative costs of the program, so donors can be assured that 100% of their contributions are going towards helping their neighbors in need.
All donations made to TAP are tax-deductible, in accordance with Internal Revenue Service regulations. Donors should consult a tax advisor with questions regarding their allowable deductions. Customers who elect to make recurring contributions to TAP can track their year-to-date donation amounts on their monthly bills and may opt out of the program at any time.
