We take pride in our roles as environmental stewards and environmental leaders. Delivering potable water that meets or exceeds safe drinking water standards established and enforced by the Virginia Department of Health is a crucial part of our mission.

The Prince William Water system ensures compliance with the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act and the Commonwealth of Virginia’s drinking water rules and regulations, as outlined in the Code of Virginia – Virginia Public Water Supply Law, Title 32.1-167 through 32.1-176. This law authorizes the Virginia Department of Health’s Office of Drinking Water to adopt and enforce Administrative Codes it determines are necessary to ensure safe drinking water for all Virginians. These Administrative Codes were last updated on June 21, 2021, and are found under Title 12 of Virginia Administrative Code (VAC) Agency 5, Chapter 590 (12VAC5-590).
