Prince William Water invests significant effort and resources to ensure that our customers receive drinking water that meets or exceeds regulatory standards. The various programs we have in place to meet these standards include:

  • Employees who are available 24/7 every day to resolve emergencies, such as quick repairs to water main breaks utilizing automated, remote monitoring of water system pressure, disinfection and temperature.
  • A rigorous and robust water quality testing program that exceeds the testing criteria required by regulations. This includes testing for turbidity, dissolved solids, pH, metals (including lead and copper per the federal Revised Lead and Copper Rule), pesticides, herbicides, disinfection by-products (e.g., trihalomethanes and halo acetic acid), as well as certain contaminants defined by the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule.
  • A dedicated Regulatory Affairs Officer whose primary focus is to monitor our compliance with all existing drinking water and clean water regulations. Our Office of Regulatory Affairs monitors proposed or adopted changes to drinking and clean water regulations that might impact ongoing operations or necessitate changes in our policies.
