Prince William Water has canceled the boil water advisory for its customers in Hoadly Manor Estates and the Carter’s Grove Subdivision, effective effective 3 p.m. on February 8, 2026. Our customers in those communities may resume normal tap water use without boiling.

We recommend following the flushing guidelines below as you begin to use water.

As required by the Virginia Department of Health, Prince William Water collected bacteriological samples over two days and all samples tested negative for the presence of bacteria. Customers in Hoadly Manor Estates and Carters Grove can drink and use tap water as normal.

We apologize for the inconvenience to affected customers and thank you for your patience.

What should I do when a boil water advisory is cancelled for my address?

Follow these step-by-step guidelines to flush your lines.

  1. Start with cold water only

  2. Open the lowest faucet first - This often refers to one of the following:
  • Basement laundry sink
  • Garage hose bib
  • First-floor tub

  1. Open the faucet fully cold and let it run 5–10 minutes until the water is clear and steady

  2. Work your way up - Go floor by floor:
  • Open cold water at sinks, tubs, showers
  • Let each run 2–3 minutes
  • Toilets: flush each one 2–3 times

  1. Flush appliances – Once your water is running clear:
  • Run washing machine on a cold rinse
  • Run dishwasher without dishes
  • If you have a fridge water line, dispense 2–3 gallons

  1. Now flush the hot water system - Once cold water is clean:
  • Turn on hot taps one at a time
  • Let them run 2–3 minutes
