WOODBRIDGE, VA – April 21, 2026 – Prince William Water has released the latest episode of its “Behind the Tap” podcast, offering listeners an inside look at the people and priorities behind the local water and wastewater utility.
The new episode features Deputy General Manager/Chief Operations Officer Don Pannell, P.E., who shares insights into the critical work happening behind the scenes to deliver high-quality water and protect the environment. Pannell outlines the scale of Prince William Water’s operations, including maintaining more than 2,500 miles of water and sewer lines and delivering about 32 million gallons of water a day.
“Our job at its core is to deliver great quality water every day and make sure our customers feel they’re getting real value,” said Pannell. “That takes an incredible team working around the clock and a constant focus on having the right resources in place to perform at a high level.”
In the podcast, Pannell also highlights Prince William Water’s use of advanced technology for preventive maintenance, ensuring there is sufficient capacity to support Prince William County’s planned growth and the annual hydrant flushing program.
“It’s important for customers to know that what they may notice during spring hydrant flushing is part of a proactive effort to keep the system clean and reliable,” Pannell noted. “These practices help us maintain water quality and ensure critical infrastructure like fire hydrants are ready when needed.”
The episode is available now at www.princewilliamwater.org/behind-the-tap. You can also find it on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. New episodes will be released quarterly.
