WOODBRIDGE, Va., October 14, 2026 — Prince William Water has released the fifth episode of its Behind the Tap podcast. In the latest episode, Director of Operations & Maintenance Doug Shoop talks about “Water 101,” an insider’s look at the infrastructure, processes and people that deliver drinking water and wastewater service to the utility’s customers in Prince William County.

In particular, the episode highlights the work required to ensure the utility’s 99.999% service reliability, including preventive maintenance, 24/7 responsiveness and a service mindset among employees.

“There are so many people taking care of this infrastructure,” Mr. Shoop notes during the podcast. “It’s ours to take care of. We take accountability for it, and we take the responsibility seriously. It’s the people who make the system work.”

Mr. Shoop also highlights the multiple ways customers can contact Prince William Water if they have a problem with their service.

Prince William Water launched Behind the Tap in 2025 to provide a deeper understanding of what it takes to deliver one of the community’s essential resources. The newest episode is available on Prince William Water’s website (Open in new window) or on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. New episodes will be released quarterly.
